skimmer not skimming, help!

hey everyone i recently got a simplicity 240 skimmer and its been working like a dream for weeks, well this afternoon i purchased a new fish and had him floating in the sump with the skimmer.
when i removed the bag the skimmers bubbles were no longer reaching the collection cup. they come about halfway n0w and its releasing more bubbles into the aquarium now.
does anyone have experience with this...is it temporary was it because of the immediate change of depth.
Im lost

i would really appreciate help!

Mostly likely the bag displaced water changing the level of water in the Skimmer chamber making it run differently. Give it time to adjust, if it doesn't on its own make minor adjustments with the Skimmer valve

@hybridazn thanks for the response! I actually figured out the problem!
I just fed the fish a little bit prior to ease any hungry aggression towards the new tank mate.
And it was my first time using selcon.
Which come to find out temporarily messes with the bubbles in the skimmers neck from sticking to the walls and reaching into the collection cup!
It's working fine now like nothing ever happened lol
