Skimmer not skimming

I have a euroreef skimmer and it does not seem to be creating any skimmate. It creates bubbles like crazy but none of em are getting to the cup and those that do do not deposit much. There is a pipe that I raise and ower to raise and lower the water level in the skimmer, but it does not seem to be doing anything.

A couple years old, It came with the tank I bought. I don't have much experience at all with skimmers.

If you just started running it, its possible it needs to break in first.

The adjustable pipe should be adjusted so that the water line is just below the neck of the skimmer.

Yup, but I think I need to do a more thorough job.

If you just started running it, its possible it needs to break in first.

The adjustable pipe should be adjusted so that the water line is just below the neck of the skimmer.

It was strange, when I first started running it, the bubblage was severe. Once it settled, I got about 2 inches of skimmate, then nothing more since. The neck is pretty long, but I have nothing to base a comparison, as the biggest skimmer I have used was a saphire skimmer.

Also putting your hands in the tank frequently can cause the foam head to collapse, and may take a few hours to get a good head of foam again. Something to do with the oils from our skin i believe

Ahh like the reducing of bubbles in my soda when poured onto ice, use a little face oil.

Well if your tampering with it every 20 mins its going to effect it alot. Set it and forget it for a hole day, then come back and see how things are then make small adjustments once a day till its tuned. i had to do this for my bubble king now it rocks my socks.

So I checked last night and I have 2 inches of Skimmate!!!

Congratz! My ASM will not produce anything when I'm in the tank or if I'm adjusting the skimmer. good luck with it just need to find a sweet spot for it and then minor adjustments from there over time.

try cleaning the pump. my skimmer was not working for some time all of a sudden... couldn't figure out why...then one day, just got the notion to clean the pump to it... it had all the stuff on it once i did that... skimmer is working like a charm again... i guess some of the debris was causing the pump to lose it's max pumping capabilities
