Skimmer not working right

I think everything is just too clean. That sump looks like it was set up two days ago. You should see mine LOL. I’d try putting the Reef Mat on a plug in timer, so it doesn’t run as much.

Yup it is very clean down there

Another thing that will keep a Skimmer from working, is Silicone Lube, even the Reef Safe stuff. If you used it on any fittings, you need to try and remove it, and use Charcoal.

I have a 300 too. I was getting constant overflows for a while, which I chalk up to breakin plus residual from reef epoxy.
Some tips:
Let it run and overflow for a while, it seems it has to get a film in the neck to begin working

Make sure the sump level is up to the line on the round level finder. There should be a sticker there. Above or below is no good. If you don’t want to mess with the levels, you can get a stand to put the skimmer on.

Feed heavily, this thing works to take dissolved organic out of the water, if you have low/no dissolved organic, it won’t work.

once the breakin is done, set the bubbles to break right at the top of the cup, where the skim can fall into collection.

Good luck
