My Bubble Magus Curve 5 isn't working properly - any ideas?

Does that opening on the bottom need to be closed up?

Have you taken it apart to see if the impeller has an obstruction?

Google search says 8" deep.

Looks to me that it needs a good cleaning as well. Clean the skimmer body first off.

Next clean your volute and the air intake. That should get your cfm up

I will! Also, do you know if I am supposed to plug that hole up at the bottom? It came with a red cap but I can't remember if it was necessary or not (I lost the cap but I could find something that would work)

You need to plug it. Water is exciting from their instead of the exit pipe.
