I just recently bought this skimmer used for what I think is a bargain deal but once I got home I noticed the pump didn’t work. I’m not too knowledgable on protein skimmers but everytime I turn on the pump it doesn’t move the water nor does it make any noise. So I’m guessing the pump doesn’t work. So does anyone know if I can just attach a different type of pump on it and will it work the same, or do I have to be a replacement one?

Sorry no experience with the skimmers with internal pumps. I'd take the pump out to see if it is truly dead. It may just be a bad impeller. Worst case you'll probably want to get the replacement pump for that skimmer. A different pump may not fit.

Id clean the pump as best as possible inside and out. A diluted vinegar bath may be needed as well. I actually have that exact skimmer. The good thing is you can buy a replacement pump for like $80 I think. It’s a sicce se-200 I believe

I would not use vinegar on the pump though, better to stick to citric acid just in case. magnets inside can swell with vinegar

Yeah a good cleaning with citric acid or vinegar might help. Take it apart and make sure the impeller isn't stuck.

It also looks like you have water in the air intake. Make sure the silencer chamber is dry or it won’t be taking in air.

if it doesnt work i think the pump is just a sicce syncra silent either 1.0 or 1.5 (not sure which) they just change the impeller. Exact replacement with impeller is the sicce se200 shouldnt be too hard to find either

Check the magnet for scoring/scrapes and the hole for any shells, sand etc. When you plug it in without impeller and magnet in it, you should hear/feel a hum from motor. If not- Motor.
Insert impeller and plug in. It should take off. It may need a nudge of the blades and Watch your Fingers !!

It’s a good little skimmer. By far the easiest I’ve ever used especially when it comes to cleaning. I literally just set it and forget it.

Waem water and toothbrush scrub it down. Turn pump on in warm bucket with skimmer all hooked back up together. Let it run. Rinse in cold.
Try her. As said. You might need a new pump. Upgrade! Lol
