Just had my 'humble' experience and doing what I should have done in the first place . . . setting up a QT.

I have about 10 fish, the biggest is a Griffis about 6". Some fairy's, leopards, cave basslet, and a couple of orange spots. Thinking about putting them in my old frag tank (48x30x12) and running my 40g breeder for the sump with a vertex150.

Pretty worried about running a system without a skimmer, though I used to years ago - that was with a very established system.

Can I run a skimmer on my QT?

if so, what meds contradict?

Or would it just be better to run multiple smaller QT's?

thanks so much.

I wouldn’t use a skimmer whilst treating with meds. It’s a big luxury to have even on an observation tank.

The main thing you need is a biofilter which utilizes a foam or sponge as bio media. The Seachem Tidal, Hagen Aquaclear and MarineLand Bio-wheel are all good choices.
