I have recently upgraded to a 90 from a 55. I have about 120-130 in live rock, I have not switched over yet, but I have noticed a few systems only using a skimmer. This 90 also came with a sump thats plumbed. But the main tank is not drilled and I am not for sure if the tank is all glass or not. From reading there is to many mixed decisions on hob overflows, that makes me feel too uncomftorble. Has anyone ran or still is using a skimmer only system with oppinions please help that would be awesome. The skimmer that came with the 90 is a aquaC remora pro hob w/ mag 3 pump plus an extra mag 5 for I dont know yet. And I could use two skimmers if needed the other is a marineland w/ maxijet1200. Also powerheads are 2- koralia 3 750gph each. The tank will mainly be softies and zoas, palys, maybe looking into a few lps just dont know what yet. Thank you all for any oppinions.

Drill the tank and get rid of the remora, you'll be glad you did and if you don't you'll wish you did. That's been my experience anyway. I regularly debate draining and drilling my tank, I just wish I did from the beginning. And you will see how poorly the remora performs when you get a better skimmer if not right away.

+1 Totally agree, invest in a decent skimmer and drill the tank

Tons of people run HOB skimmer systems successfully. Your tank will do just fine, although it would be better off with a sump. More powerful equipment, increased water volume and the aesthetic value of having no equipment in your display are some of the major bonuses of running a sump.
