Here's a picture of my tank, not completely set up yet. I am looking for a decent yet quiet skimmer. The only one I really like so far is the Mame Protein Skimmer any suggestions?

I've run a Reef Octopus bh1000 with the external pump as the sole filtration on a 20 gallon and now on a 15 gallon. It works well, no complaints.

Using the tunze 9001, small but effective. It's great too because the default setup for it, the black portion pointing into the clear cube area, is basically a recirculating design to avoid filtering water 1:1.

You don't need one on a tank that small. It's nice to have but not on a need list. 10% weekly water changes is all you really need. But if your set on getting one check out Eshopps or Tunze.

On a side note, I would look into going open top with a screen and getting an ato.

Why open top?
