Skimmer or no

Setting up a 40 gallon frag tank. No sump, but I can put a skimmer directly into the tank if need be. Is a skimmer recommended? Or do you find that a frag tank doesn't need one? This will be a softies frag tank. Mostly leathers and tree corals.

Not entirely necessary but you're reef inhabitants will be happy that you did

Dont need one. Water changes will likely have to be your primary export in that case.

Since it's a frag tank I'd assume a light bio load

I've had tanks with skimmers and without. I have never had a frag tank. But I've liked having skimmers better than not having them.
