Skimmer or no?

I've got my new tank up and cycling and I believe I have all the equipment I need for now. The one thing I'm unsure of is when do I need to add a skimmer or if I even need to a skimmer? Thoughts?

@Knightreef How big is your tank? I use a skimmer but I think others might use a refugium instead of a skimmer.

Tank is a 70 gal including sump

Most reefers use either a skimmer or a refugium, and many use both. They are both very good ways of exporting excess nutrients from your tank.
