Guys,

Looking for a little advice. I just set up a QT and was going to take all the fish out of my DT to treat for possible diseases. I was wondering if you think I should turn off my skimmer so I don't strip the water of nutrients that my SPS will need. I have slowly been catching the fish and a couple of my corals have started to lose some of their color. Last time this happen (color fading) I dosed nitrates and everything came back. Any input would be appreciated.
BTW I run the triton method as well

You don't have to turn the skimmer off. If you can run it dry for awhile, I would do that and monitor no3 and po4. Then make skimmer adjustments if you think something is off. Otherwise skimmers aren't imperative.

^^^^+1^^^^^^ on monitoring your parameters only for the moment.
Skimmer is something else, running dry or wet the only difference is that you pull out more water and need to empty your cup more often.
If you nutrients drop or corals getting pale you can dose No3 or coral food (and there are so many just what your LFS has is good enough)
If for some reason you having hard time with your nutrients to keep level just setup your skimmer on a program through your controller or a simple timer.
Start with 6 hours off and increase from there.
I myself on my frag tank if I have no fish in there run no skimmer at all.
Dosing No3 and bacteria to stay on top my nutrients.
You know corals release some waist in your tank too and more than you think.

Why do you dose bacteria? Do you dose when you have fish in the tank or just when there's no fish
