Skimmer or Refugium or Both for Biocube 29

So my tank is up and running now for about 5 months. I upgraded to a Intank media basket which helped a lot. I plan on upgrading to either a skimmer or fuge. I've read up on what they each do but I can't make my mind up. Should I run one or the other or do both???

I would start with a skimmer and if you have room later make a fuge. Ultimately, both would be ideal in the end.

i just have a bubbler with a ball of chaeto with a light next to the media basket and its works great.i tried a skimmer and it didnt work well.

Yea the skimmers that can fit in the chambers aren't the best. I have a tunze 9001 in my 32 biocube and it works ok. Cheato is the way to go! I run it in my intank media basket on the bottom. Grows great keeps nitrates at almost zero .. honestly keeps the nitrates almost too low

Neither on a small AIO tank water changes changes on a regular basis are all you need, low cost and highly effective at nutrient control and trace element replenishing. Just be sure the big 3 and temp match the tank and you can do large water changes with no issues. Skimmers made for these tanks dont do match at all, even the "good" ones. As for a fuge there really is not enough space for a large enough fuge to make it worth while and effective. If you can find a HOB fuge that fits that should work well though. I had a HOB fuge skimmer combo many years ago, skimmer worked so so but it may be a good option for you. Not mine but here is basically what I had. Company I got it from, Aquatraders aka Odyssea is no longer around.

I run a skimmer and also have chemipure elite and purigen in my InTank media tower.

Ok thanks I think ima run a small fuge in the back next to me In tank media basket. I'm gonna run a small bubbler back there to maybe help the algea spin and rotate a little on it's own since the flow Is restricted in such a small space
