I have a reefoctopus regal 150sss I've read the directions and read a million posts but still see people using that skimmer and similar ones with the output in both configurations. Which works better in your opinion. I started with my output at the recommended 7-8 inch below, then moved it an inch above. I seem to always be adjusting it. Where do you all keep it?

I think it will operate above or below the water line. I have my skimmer output split the water line. I like where it keeps the top of the water pushed through the sump.

Mine is about a 1/4" below. There all ok the only down side to above is any time you break surface like that you increase your evaporation rate. Short story more top offs.

I Didn't even think of that I just set it up under again. . I'm gonna monitor and see if it drops the daily top off. Great point thanks!

It depends how your ato is setup. Say you have it hooked up through a Kalk Reactor, you may need the ato to run more frequently like I do.

So I moved my skimmer back to the original under the waterline position. It seems like it really is much happier there and is so much easier to adjust. I set it yesterday and honestly haven't had to do anything . It looks like a better spot.

Just a quick pic of the new setting and how nice its foaming
