So I dosed Prazipro in my DT for possible parasite to my male Spot Breasted angel having stringy tan/white stool. Now I am trying to rid tank of the med but my skimmer is just continually overflowing. I did a 50g water change in a 200g tank yesterday, pulled skimmer and cleaned it. Have carbon running.
What else can I do? Is this normal after Prazipro? Will the skimmer calm down after a few days?
Any thoughts, experience with this?

I dosed my 240 gallon last night at 8pm. I had a full skimmer (lightly stocked new tank) in less than 2 hours, emptied again about midnight. This morning it's calmed down with less than an inch in the collection cup, and hasn't changed since 7 this morning. I had also cleaned the glass with my new flipper about an hour before.

Prazipro does make them go nuts for a while. I guess it depends on the system. I also have UV running on my tank. I don't know if that shortened the duration of my foam up or not. I do not have carbon, was thinking about putting a bag in the sump return after water change and 2nd dose. Anyone have an opinion on that?

Carbon is the most efficient way to get it out of your system. Run carbon for a couple of days and remove your skimmer cup if possible to let it overflow to help keep the water aerated. If you can't let it overflow then turn it off for a day or two. Water changes as well.

So dumb newbie question: Can you just throw a bag of carbon in the sump return? I had planned on doing a water change before 2nd dose since the skimmer has settled down.

RT I have done a 50g change and have carbon going as well as the cup off. No signs of slowing after 24hrs. Polyfilter maybe?

Yes just rinse it off first and make sure you use a bag meant for media. Put it anywhere with good flow

RT thanks. Hoping that is what happens. I'll watch it and see. I did have it off for 5 days while dosing Prazipro.

If you can mark down the setting its at now you can always try dialing it back all the way and slowly ramping it back up

I have it dialed back. The only way I can get it to slow down is raising it up but I hit the bottom of my tank. Possibly trying to restrict the intake of air to slow it down may work, I guess.

You guys just need to shut off your skimmer for 72 hrs after dosing Prazipro. Or remove the collection cup so it just spills back into the sump and is providing O2. It will still go nuts even after 72 hrs, so you have to dial it way down. Water changes and running carbon will remove the med.

Humble Fish, I just wanted to take a moment to say thanks. You and the other active members on here are an invaluable resource and much appreciated.

If my local LFS guy was as quick and knowledgeable as the community here he probably would have sold me 6 tanks by now!

Thanks for the compliment. You guys are my outlet, as my wife just ignores me whenever I want to talk about fish disease stuff. Strange, isn't it? ;)

Thanks Humblefish I guess I'll wait it out doing what I'm doing. May have to do another water change in a couple of days if this doesn't clear.

Don't be surprised if your skimmer doesn't act up for weeks. It's not the prazi itself, but the Oxybispropanol (solubilizing agent) found in Prazipro that remains active for so long.
