Skimmer overflowing from AquaSafe

I made a stupid mistake by adding aquasafe to my tank because it said "enhances slime coat". I thought it would be a good idea to use it because my fish got ich from a new addition. Now my skimmer is overflowing like crazy! I added the AquaSafe 2 days ago. Does carbon remove this stuff?

I've never used AquaSafe but if you do a 20% water change it should settle the skimmer down.
