Where to dial it in depends on how deep the water is.

WOW, you keep yours that high up in the neck? Man, I'd be overflowing everyday for sure.

Oh, I keep mine at 1/4 up the neck, using the dial to fine tune. That keeps the skimmate dry and usually always have some in the cup, but don't get the overflows.

Nah, I explained in the PM that I had to clean it so he could see it in the pics. Just turned it on. I keep it about 1 3/4" above bottom of cup.

that looks like a bubble magus curve skimmer (likely rebranded for sea side)..

Actually, I bought it from petmountain.com for 237.00 on sale. (great deal) It was listed as a Bubble Magus Hero 180 and what came in the mail was this one that's marked Seaside Aquatics CS180. Yes, it's exactly the same thing. Threw me at first. Really like the skimmer; have to be careful to open it away from my nose.

nly04 is having problems dialing his in. My skimmer compartment is 9.5" deep. When Bubble Magus says, "operate between 9.5" and 11", they mean it. I have to presume it is very touchy on water depth.

Most people run them in much less than recommended water level.. The curve 5 says 9-11" and most people run them in like 6 or 7"

That is correct. They have plenty of power to push the water up. I have mine turned way down in 9.5". But I don't have a choice, that's how deep I made my skimmer compartment. I hope nly04 reads this.

I have the seaside aquatics ES7 and man I tell you I cannot get that skimmer to do work like I have seen other skimmers do ! I have tried every imaginable water height from low to high and every dial setting from low to high including absolutely everything in between. Maybe its my sump id there that water touchy but I just don't know. I am definitely at a loss of what I can do to make it perform. I have had it for awhile and I think I have maybe gotten a shy handful of nice dark rich clumpy skim-mate from it.
