I have a 90 gallon DT and then a 40 gallon breeder sump partioned into 3 different compartments. I have my skimmer in the first compartment with the drain hose and the filter sock. It was really tight in that compartment so I changed my filter sock to a 4" round to free up some space. But now the filter sock only lasts maybe a day before it is overflowing and I need to change it. So I was wondering would there be any adverse effects or would I lose any of the water cleaning if I moved my skimmer into the center compartment? I have live rock and my GFO reactor in that compartment. I could move the reactor into the first chamber with the filter sock as the footprint of the reactor is much smaller than my skimmer.

My one concern is that the skimmer in the chamber with my live rock would harm or reduce my pod population. I try to keep a large population so my Madarin always has a food source.

No worries, you can move the skimmer into the next compartment without issues.
