Can you tell us what Protein Skimmer you have? We may be able to get that one hooked up good for ya.

The skimmer gets set and operates 24 hrs ok, then starts acting up spewing brown water back into the 3rd stage uptake to the tank

This is a Marineland 100 skimmer, can't get any continuous consistent service. Problems finding the sweet spot if this skimmer has one. 90 gal tank and 23 gal 3 chamber refug.. My first reef aquarium and has been up 3 1/2 months. Any ideas on a replacement skimmer appreciated or knowledge about improving the Marineland 100 perfomance surely appreciated..Thanks

marineland 100 skimmer

Continuous problems..would like skimmer upgrade info for my 90 gal reef w/23 gal 3 stage refuse...many thanks

My experience with the marineland skimmers was similar to yours. I helped with a tank that had one and it was very inconsistent. Would get it set and then for no reason it would overflow. Have since talked the tank owner into replacing it and have seen a lot better results since then.

I am not sure how much room you have in your sump to house a skimmer, but for the money I would look at a SRO 1000. If it will fit I think it would be great fit for your tank. It does need to be run in fairly shallow water levels however.

How much space do you have in your skimmer chamber? I would highly recommend the CAD Lights TIA-1150 for your system if you have the space for it in your sump. It has a footprint of 9.75"x 6.5" and it's 18.5" tall. It's very energy efficient and works extremely well. I have owned many different types and brands of skimmers and I am so impressed with the CAD Lights line of equipment, I will continue to use it and recommend it from now on. I have their Pipe-less skimmer, TIA-1220, and TIA-1350 and in the past, I also had the TIA-1150 before I upgraded tanks and got the 1220 for the bigger tank. Not only do I believe they make fantastic equipment, but it is also very affordable compared to others on the market that are comparable. PM me if you have any questions about their skimmers. I have a lot of experience with them and would be happy to help.

I have the sro1000int. The instructions says 8.5" of water is optimal. Well this is not correct. I did this at first and it would overflow constantly. I then lowered the level to 5.5" and some mods to the air intake tubes now it works great.
