So I got an Aqua One Proskim G216 today and when setting it up I found that it will not pump water into the skimmer body. In the intake pipe there is what appears to be a rubber seal which is stopping the water. I have tried pushing the pump as far into the outlet as I can but there is no difference. I am not sure if this rubber disc is meant to be there or it is just a manufacturing defect.

Try to take apart and reassemble that gasket fits around impeller housing

So it seems the pressure caused the rubber to break away (was still partly attached so I just pulled it off completely). So now I have an issue where there are no bubble at all, I have emailed Aqua One and got this response

"Thank you for your email and taking the time to write to us. We have spoken to our in house marine biologist who helped design your skimmer and who also wrote the instructions.

He has said that they need to be bedded in for the first week. You need to adjust the water level adjuster right down for the first few days(part no 1 on page 3 of the instruction manual). Then slowly turn it up over the next week until you find the perfect flow. The first week or two is very twitchy. He has also said that when you clean the skimmer right out (not just the cup cleaning) you will need to start the process all over again."

Thought the breaking in was supposed to cause the bubbles to be over excited not no existant. Anyway I am just going to run it to see if there is any change within the week.

I don't get that instruction
Adjustments need to be made, but that value controls how wet or dry the skimate is
Check to see any blockage for the air intake, you should have bubbles upon turning on, then make adjustments , which can over flow your bubbles until broken in, but you still have bubbles either way. Make sure your water level is correct, at least half way up cone.
If for some reason there's no bubbles, I would return the unit, and purchase a Reef Octopus unit based on your tank needs. I'm very happy with my RO 2000 int for my 180 gal tank
Be sure to get a unit that's over rated for your tank needs,
. My unit is for a 250-300 gal, very important

So after some work I managed to get it running, however it wasn't running to its fullest. i finally had time to look at it again. Had a look at that rubber piece again, and tried to remove as much as i could and that was interrupting flow, and now it is fully working.

Glad you figured it out, properly just a factory defect
