what skimmer pumps do you all like the best? I have 2 sicce pumps now on my swc 250 cone skimmer and would like to improve the performance of the skimmer and am thinking a new pump might be the way to go. I have read past posts with guys going with the bb 5000. Any opinions?
thanks
jeff

You're lucky you're not stuck with the Atman's. I have an SWC 160 and my only option is this POC Atman pump. I'm on my fifth pump!!! OK, I'm done ranting.

Anyway, the Sicca's came with two impellers. What impellers are you running. The pin wheel impellers pulled 32 to 37scfh of air per pump, while the mesh wheels pulled up to 50scfh per pump. If you're running the pin wheels, try switching to the mesh and see what you get. It's my understanding that Sicca's are pretty good pumps.

Also make sure your venturis are clean and fully open. They tend to clog up with precipitate/deposits.

IIRC Sicce replaced the PSK 2500 with the PSK 1000 that had a higher rating. But, I don't know if you can just swap them out. Sicce makes a great skimmer pump.

I have the 2500 pumps. They seem to be good pumps other then start up issues. They have the pin wheel impellers now. Are the mesh wheels available to buy or modify the pinwheels?
Thanks
Jeff

I'm not sure when you purchased the skimmer, but current 250's come with both impellers.
