Skimmer question. Do I need??

Right now had the tank since may of 2020
Currently have 2 clown fish and about 10 corals. The question is would a skimmer be really beneficial for me at this point. I have been running one by the way but just been thinking and seeing post on this. What’s your thoughts

yes I say keep it going .
But it has a lot to do with organics ...
how many fish do you have .
is the skimmer

What size tank do you have and what’s your water changing schedule .. And are you planning adding more fish?
I’ve always had skimmer in my tanks . Now there is discussion about running skimmer part time but to me it is a must on my tanks ..

I’m sorry in my head I added that info

it’s a 65 gallon. I have 2 fish right now. Yes I plan on it. I have the skimmer and been running it for a while now. A friend came over and said there was no use for it and could just be skimming beneficial bacteria instead.

I do water changes every week

If your doing weekly water changes every week and plan on doing a weekly wc you could get away not having I guess for now . I have never been without a skimmer so it would be hard for me to say 100%. I like the idea of having a Skimmer where i do not have to do more frequent wc’s and have more fish in my tank that is stable

If you have been running the skimmer for awhile and are happy with your parameters, I'd say keep it going. If you're struggling to keep NO3 and PO4 up to acceptable levels, you may consider taking it offline. Skimmers do add a considerable amount of aeration to the tank. How much is disputed, but I consider that important. In my extremely uneducated opinion, you can't have too much aeration in the tank. For that reason as well as nutrient control, I run my skimmer 24/7.
