I have a reef octopus 100 HOB, a couple weeks ago when I got my sump up and running I moved the skimmer from the DT to the sump. Since then it produces no skim mate. The only difference is the water level is lower, but the intake is still below water? Any advice or input is much appreciated. Thanks!

Are there any adjustments you're able to make? Like an air intake valve or water output valve? Most skimmers are tunable, yours probably just needs to be tuned.

Apparently the collection cup can be raised or lowered based on how much you want to skim. Try lowering it.

I know for other octopus HOB skimmers you need to purge the air by holding the airline shut and letting it pump until no bubbles are coming out to rid the intake pipe of air after there are no more bubbles you can stop bending the airline and it should run like normal, not sure if that will help but it's just another idea off the top of my head besides for crabs idea. (Not sure if that process applies to the skimmer you have but I have to do it on my octopus hob skimmer on my frag tank but the pump is also not submerged in water)

- You also could try either lowering the intake pipe (not sure if that's possible) or raising the water level to completely submerge the surface skimmer area of the skimmer to see if that helps, the pump may just not be getting enough water into the skimmer body with it so exposed.
