Been Dino free for a while, but everytime I do a water change (once a month) they come back for a week.

Now, I get a lot of film algae
I’m only running a HOB filter, and a sterilizer.

but have to wash my filter cartridges a lot.

looking at how “awesome” chemiclean Blue works.

I don’t run my skimmer because when I do, I get a Dino bloom.

question....should I ever need a skimmer if I use Chemiclean blue?

I have a medium bio load.

Lots of tanks run skimmerless very successfully...more successfully than I current am actually. :)

Not sure I'd say it would be because of Chemiclean Blue - but whatever water managements practices you have that work well....work!

By the way...I use Lanthanum Chloride (Phosphate Rx) occasionally to knock down phosphates - don't need a skimmer.

Good luck!
