Skimmer Question?????

i have been running an external skimmer and just got an internal skimmer. is there any downside to running both until the new one breaks in???

only difference i noticed when i did that is it made one less 'efficient' per say as the bioload was split between the two.. if that makes sense?
 
Yeah, I wouldnt expect both skimmers to operate efficiently. It would just allow the new one to slime up/break in, while the other one is still doing it's job as best it can.
 
Running 2 Skimmers will work as long as there is something to pull out of the water, When the water is so clean that there is nothing to skim both skimmer will decrease in their production of Skimate. Dustin was running 2 Super Reef Octo XP5000 on his tank and they both pulled an amazing amount of Skimate, We removed one and now the single pulls 2 X the Amount as the 2 used to. Just Saying if it's dirty it will Skim, If not No..
