So I got a new bubble Magnus skimmer with a psk 2500 pump and the upgraded red mesh impeller. All was fine and dandy except it randomly overflows. 3 times now. So basically it's useless. I dialed it way back to the max and it was running at water level all day. Then bam an hour ago for no reason it shoots up and overflows. Venturi intake has no salt creep. Skimmer was totally cleaned when it did it. Any ideas anyone?

Skimmers just flood from time to time, if it is an external skimmer you may wan to consider a float switch

My iTech skimmer does it too after a complete cleaning. Im thinking it needs to break in again. It doesn't do it when its scummed up.

Water level is perfectly constant. The only change is that my doser doses alk

Not familiar with that skimmer/pump combo but too much air or too much water flow could do that.

Something isn't constant... If the airflow, water level, and water conditions are stable it shouldn't happen. This is assuming the skimmer is running and keeps running...

I have run into an issue with my PSK 2500 where the pump will not start right after a power outage and would cause an overflow almost every time. It ticked me off every time, but the PSK 1000 pump fixed it. Another thing to do is look into the pinwheel and see if you still have issues. I had better luck with the red pinwheel which is available aftermarket.
