I bought a Large ship Decor from Local fish store For my hundred gallon tank and when I put it in last night, I woke up in the morning with the skimmer overflowing.

it’s calm down a little bit as I took it out and cleaned it and I’m still draining an inch off the bottom of the skimmer cup every two hours.

I called the fish store that sold me the ship and they said leave the ship and run the skimmer With the lid off a couple days to see what happens. My skimmer has been like a rock so the only thing new is the ship decoration.

what’s your thinking here?

It sounds like you already know this but that ship is leeching something into the water and I would definitely remove it

Fwiw freshwater decorations like that are generally avoided in saltwater tanks since the salt eats away at them causing them to release junk into the water.

Skimmer back to normal after taking out new ship decor.

I have a two other pieces in the tank for months with no problems.

should I tank them out as well?
Does anyone have decorations in your salt water tank?

The fish store sold me them so I felt it was ok.
