I’m putting together my new Reefer 170 and was wondering which skimmer are people running in this system. My plan to stock this tank is- Tail spot blenny, Rainford Goby, a wrasse (haven’t decided which one yet, stuck between McCosker’s Flasher Wrasse and a Sixline) and a basslet but also not sure which one, any recommendations would be appreciated too.
Im planning to stock heavy on corals so I want a skimmer that does a great job at removing nutrients but also won’t strip the system for some LPS to feed on.

Look into the Deltec 400i

Shoot Adam @Battlecorals a pm to get his incite.

Not sure if it has the manual neck cleaner like the larger models have.

One of my best friends was running an NYOS 120 skimmer and one GHL Mitra light on his reefer 170. His reefer 170 was as good as it gets.

Might want to check out a NYOS 120

If your budget is tight:
Check out the Reef Octopus Classic 110SSS

Still like the Deltec

Went with the RO classic instead. Takes up less space and half the buck. I have another reef octopus on my 150 and couldn’t be happier with it.
Leaves a lot of space for reactors and feed pumps in same chamber as skimmer
