Hello, I have a 13 gal tank with a 10 gal sump, the tank will have a pair of clowns and a mix of corals (mostly sps). What are some recommendations for a good skimmer? I want something that will be oversized so that I can repurpose it for a seahorse tank later down the road. I'd appreciated any suggestions, thanks.

Hi gar732,

Were you looking for an in tank skimmer or a hang on the back model? I'm running an AquaMaxx HOB-1 on my nano at home and I've been real happy with it. If you're looking for an internal skimmer, the Tunze Nano DOC 9002 is a model our customers really like. I hope this helps.

reef octopus are great skimmers at affordable price, I have owned 3, and now I am running a bubble magus 220 on my 215g tank and all I can say is wow!!!

+1....

Thanks, I was thinking an in sump skimmer. I've heard good things about the tunze but I think I might want something a little larger.

I agree. Go with the Tunze 9002

I would like to reuse this skimmer on a 45 gal seahorse tank down the road. I think the tunze will be great for this tank but would be undersized for a seahorse tank. Do you guys think a reef octopus nwb 110 would be too big? I think it would work well for the seahorse tank but not too sure about this tank. This tank is only being setup temporarily but at least 6 months.
