My skimmer overflowed earlier tonight and the safety shut off sensor didn’t do it’s job. Anyways…..this caused my skimmer to suck in water from my co2 scrubber. Alk/cal and ph spike. Corals didn’t skip a beat. Don’t give me your “wait 2 weeks” malarkey :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing: :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing: :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing: :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing: :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing: Only thing I’m worried about is the color changing dye. But not too worried bc this has happened before.

Your SPS were healthy to begin with, though. Ugly, but healthy.

I have been thinking about looking into a scrubber. I just started consciously cracking open a window for PH-purposes. Are you happy with the scrubber?

I guess im happy with it. It elevated my ph about 0.2 points. I’ve had it for a couple years but don’t really notice any obvious growth benefits.

How often do you replace the media?

So why did your sensor fail? And do you have the scrubber reactor higher than the skimmer so water doesn’t back feed? My recirculating scrubber has come close to pulling poopy water into the reactor chamber:astonished-face:
Good to know you haven’t had any I’ll effects

I’m trying to think in my head how the tank water could end up in the CO2 scrubber.
Is this only an issue with recirculating CO2 scrubbers?

Yes, I don’t see a way for water to back siphon if it’s not recirculating.

On the recirculating setup, the water level increase could allow the air intake to suck/push the water back into the reactor. Especially if the reactor is below the water line of the skimmer cup

It’s not really just tank water, it’s skimmer poo water lol

The optical sensor was filthy. I haven’t cleaned my cup in awhile. So the cup filled with water….recirculating water through the chamber instead of air
