Looking to get a Red Sea dc skimmer my tank is about 220gallons what one would be best for my tank? I don’t want to over size it

Get the 900 for that size tank. Unless you run a very low nutrient system with 3 fish in it.

IMO, you always want more skimmer than less. You can always set it to not pull out as much gunk if you believe that higher waste-products are good, but you cannot always add in metal removal and gas exchange.

Because I have a reef octopus 300 and I think that is over sized because it’s not pulling anything out

Not all skimmers are good at their jobs - RO included. What pump is in that skimmer. IMO, RO have not made good skimmer since they stopped using PSK pumps.

Even an oversized skimmer should skim stuff once broken in, if it is a good skimmer.
