For no apparent reason i woke up the other day to my skimmer having an overflowing meltdown, something id rather didnt happen again.

I know deltec do a skimmer guardian with an optical sensor for about £55, im happy to proceed with one of these but just wondered if there is anything else out there, i dont have a controller so needs to be a stand alone device, happy to diy but not sure i have the time to do that as im going away for a few days soon

Thanks

Sorry to hear - my skimmer overflowed several times so I’ve put an end to it with this device. It is self-contained, don’t need a controller but mine is connected to the Apex for added control. It is simple enough - no need for DIY.

Thank you, thats essentially what the deltec is and that sort of price but likely harder to get hold of in the uk if the dollar price is anything to go by, having a skimmer spaz out once is enough i reckon

Look at the Tunze dc skimmers. They have anti overflow. Never had one overflow in 5+ years of use.
They are very under rated skimmers.
Thanks but ive no interest in a new skimmer or the cost that goes with one, if i did and its a big if id get a deltec 400i

The new Red Sea self adjusting skimmers are looking pretty slick.

Edit: whoops just saw you don’t want a new skimmer.

Then I would go with the Deltec if that’s the case. Nothing really magically about these devices - I’m confident you can make it cheaper with online parts but is it worth your time & patience? Unless it’s fun, of course. Good luck!
