I have a reefer 425xl. It is very heavily stocked. My current skimmer cannot keep up with my tank ( aquamaxx co s2). I was wondering if a reef octopus 250sss would be too big for my setup.

Mixed views on this. I'd say most like bigger. Personally, I like one rated for 3x or more total system gallons. Also depends on what you want to keep for corals.

If I get the regal 250sss it will be roughly 3x volume. The one i have currently is about 1.3x my system volume

Thank you for all the support.
It fits in the sump better than my current one.

I got it ready but I haven't put it in the sump yet. Was going to do some organization in my stand. I work nights all weekend so it will go in Monday so I can monitor it. It does have the overflow protection but you never know.
