Currently have a 60gal total setup with a bubble magus curve 5 elite. Pulls skimmate for a out 4 days then tapers to little production. Previously tried a nyos quantum 120 in another tank and it was a little on the small side. Thinking of getting a nyos quantum 160 because it has a drain port. Is this skimmer too big for my system? Currently have a mixed reef, mostly lps, with about 30% spa. I also run chaeto in my fuge.

It really depends on bioload more than water volume.

If you are considering the Nyos I would also look pretty hard at the new Deltecs, the 600ix would do you nicely and some of the features on that thing are sweet.

Heavy bio load...8 fish consisting of wrasses, a small puffer, and gobies. And a **** ton of corals!

I've been told before (but I am no expert) to always get a bigger size skimmer than you think you need.
I'm installing the biggest skimmer I can possibly fit in my sump with a variable speed pump. My bio-load wont be big in the beginning but, as time goes on it will increase and I will be able to keep control at all times.

I dont have experience with the NYOS. I just looked it up on BRS. It says heavy bio-load on 75 gallon and up to 250 on light bio-load. Looks like a nice skimmer. I would think you would be ok considering you said your system volume was only about 60 gallons.

Back in the day I had a Kent Nautilus. People on another forum laughed at me and said I needed a different skimmer. I had it on a 150 tank with a mag 9 driving it if I remember correctly. It skimmed like a beast! I never had an issue. It was the best couple hundred bucks I spent. Kept the garbage out of the tank. Now that I know better... I'm going with something a bit prettier and way more productive on my new tank.
