Hey guy I recently started using filter socks and I find my self using 2 pairs weekly so thats 100 extra a month that I have to spend I was told that I wouldn't have to worry about them for at least 3 weeks until they overflowed but mine are overflowing every 3 days so my question is can I just wash them rather than throwing them out

Yes. Just wash them. No detergent. Some use a little bleach but I think it just whitens and makes it look cleaner.

I bought like 12 of them and just do a load in the wash when like 8-10 of them are dirty. Warm water, no detergent.

+1. I wash mine in hot water with a bit of bleach and usually an extra cycle of just hot water. They can last a long time washing them. I would say my oldest ones are at least a year old if not more

Ive been reusing mine for months, i throw em in the washer, warm water with a little bleach and in 30min they look good as new! But i do run another rinse cycle after they are done just to be safe

Thanks for the replies guy I was starting to get a bit overwhelmed with what it was costing me im going to buy a few pairs tomorrow and wash them when there dirty

i found once i went to a diff salt, i dont get near as much brown residue in the socks and they last longer. went from IORC to ESV. I would also never leave them in there 3 weeks. they can be come nitrate factories.

I agree. I change mine every 4-5 days.

Yep just put them in the washing machine with about a tablespoon of bleach and then dry well in the dryer. Washing about every 5-7 days would be fine and a sock should last you a couple years..

If you are using felt socks try some mesh. They don't clog as quickly. Plus like everyone said wash and reuse.

I wash mines and use bleach only, I let them air dry, I built a sock holder for them its the best thing ive done since I have 2 tanks using filter socks.
