Hi

I have a 150g DT + 100g sump . Total SW volume is ~ 160g ( I have a ton of LR). What is the best skimmer I can buy now that is easily twice the rating I really need?

Tunze 9430 dc. I run one on my 120 and its a beast. Rated at 900g's but 270g's for a fully stocked sps system.
Mine has no issues with holding a head.
I do practice heavy in and heavy out though.
I feed 8-10 cubes a day to the 15 fish in my 120.
Just cleaned yesterday.

I like the 9410 better ... 9430 is waay big !
I ran the 9410dc for close to 2 years. Close to the end it could not keep up and is in my 45 frag/lagoon system now.
Yea its big. My sump is a 40 breeder. If you have a 100 gal sump it should be a good fit.
I only have 35lbs of live rock in my system. However after 2 years the 35lbs of caribsea is now live rock for a total of 70lbs.

It couldn't keep up with how much of sw volume? Initially after the said 2 years?

My system is around 120 gallons total water volume.
I replaced the 9410dc in the first week of april of this year.
No3 was going up to around 15-20 and po4 was getting close to 0.3.
A few weeks after the 9430 was up no3 dropped ro 3-5 and po4 back down to below 0.1.
I do run gfo now to keep po4 around 0.04-0.1.

The 9410 is only rated by Tunze for a fully stocked sps system of 90 gallons.
Check their website for more info.
This is my system as of today.

thx
says upto 265g. Mine is non sps , LPS and softy only and 3 tangs and small fishies...
Will it be ideal? The next model is twice the price :(

Problem I have is that a local reefer said once, that skimmer rated gallons is usually overrated, it's a marketing gimmick. So we need to cut that in half.

Soo if it's advertised as 300g... Skimmer is usually good for about 150g.

Is he wrong then?

Depends on the brand and bioload.
A good skimmer brand will say good for 75g with heavy bioload, 100g with medium, 150g with light,
