Skimmer suggestions for my DB 57 Blue

I was looking at the Skimz line to go with my Skimz UP34 sump but I’m just curious what everyone else is using? I don’t want to buy a skimmer that will be too much for my system. Tank and sump it will probably be around a 90g system. I purchased a used Bubble magus curve 5 but I’m not really a fan so I’m changing my mind lol any suggestions?

Depends on your budget, Skimmer footprint, and livestock. I would have to say I love my new Reef octopus classic 8" but the air noise is terrible - I had to mod it with a ro unit valve (see pic). I believe Skimz are far more silent. However, you'll get the same exact performance from SKIMZ as RO only I believe Skimz silencers are better. On my other tank 5 years ago I was gonna buy SKIMz but at the time only aquacave sold them and I wanted a skimmer that was readily available for parts and services. Skimz has come along way so no issue there.. I went with the reef octopus on my new current tank since it was $320 for a 8" skimmer. Go with either Skimz or RO 6-8". Hope this helps

Thanks! I had a Skimz SM161 model on my 150g tank years ago and I loved it so I’m trying to stay with what I know. I did own a RO Classic 150int at one point too, both very good but I figured I’d try and get a Skimz since I have a Skimz sump lol footprint isn’t really a big deal since I have a huge skimmer chamber. As far as livestock goes, I’m gonna house a bunch of wrasses I think and possibly a snowflake eel. Mixed Corals as well.

Sounds about right. I was looking at the SK181 model since aquacave has them 25% off but they’re sold out [emoji20]

Contact aquacave and see if you can get that price when it comes in stock.
Just tell them "it was in your cart and you are disappointed to be missing out on this special and will go to BRS for future deals if not given the deal"
