Hey yall,
I've been researching for a new skimmer for my tank. I want something that is going to be quiet out of the box that I don't have to go get a new pump for. I run a 58 gallon SPS tank with 70 gallon total water volume. It has a low bioload so I probably dont need anythign too crazy. The big thing I really want is quiet and reliable. Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,
Cham

Sro 1000int or a SWC 120 cone

And ebay, they have some nice skimmers for a low price.

I vote for the SRO 1000int. Mine is working overtime in my QT right now with 150lbs of live rock, haha

I would agree with the SRO 1000 internal. Fairly inexpensive and very reliable. With that said, this time around I wanted to go the cheap route and purchased the skimmer as pictured in the above post. I'm extremely satisfied with the purchase, but the skimmer doesn't have a silencer. So although its not incredibly loud, it is slightly louder then skimmers that do incorporate a silencer.

Silencers silence the intake on a skimmer. I use a SWC xtreme cone 160 on my 45g i've got a total water volume of about 60g. Although I have a heavy bioload. I went a little larger as I know one day i'll want a larger tank as well. I love my SWC and its really quiet.
