I have a skimmer/sump compatibility question.

The question: The sump has a skimmer section size of 8 x 8.5. The maximum footprint measurement of the reef octopus 110INT is 10.6. If I take the corner to corner dimension of the 8 x 8.5 I get 11.6 inches. However, if the pump on the skimmer is too wide, it still won't fit. So the question to anyone who has a Reef Octopus 110INT, can it fit into an 8" x 8.5" footprint? Thanks!
