So I installed a new skimmer 8 days ago, and I have been getting tons of micro bubbles in the tank ever since. I think this is a normal part of the break in process, but shouldn’t it start clearing up by now? I have adjusted the water depth in my sump a couple times trying to clear it up, and nothing changes it. What do you guys think?

What kind of skimmer?

Did you clean it before you put it in the sump or did you just place it in there and let it run? They can take some time to dial in. You may want to try whipping it down a bit with paper towel inside the cone if there was a coating that you didn't take off before placing in sump and perform a 10-20% water change.

I didn’t clean it out before I installed it.

If you didn't clean it, it will go crazy for some time due to the residue left on it from manufacturing. Give it a good wipe down with a paper towl on the inside of the skimmer to get what ever is left in there. It will stop bubbling immediately and will take some type to readjust. Once it gets going again, ensure that all the waste it wants to take out is removed. It will settle in a couple hours. Have some water ready to replace what it moves. If you do a small water change prior, it will remove less water.
