Skimmer vent silencer

I Have a loud skimmer where the water is splashing through the vent. Has anyone used a silencer like this? Seems easy enough to make. I have a reef octopus regal 200sss. Thanks!

The outlet for my skimmer is 40mm/1.25", but I think yours would be 50mm/1.5" per the Reef Octopus website: https://reefoctopus.com/product/octo-regal-protein-skimmer-s/#tab-technical-data
