Skimmer water level adjustment in sump

I have a new Red Sea 425XL G2. Have a RS Reefmat and RS skimmer. I am seeing people stating to put skimmer in back chamber because water level is adjustable back there. Any guidance on how to adjust the water level?

If the sump is empty you can cut some glass and silicone it into a shelf at the appropriate level

I put a pice of glass in and then fashioned a stand with egg crate and zip ties

Some sumps have adjustable baffles that allow you to fine tune water height. It should be easy to see if your sump has that option.

Another way is what was already suggested, you can simply create a stool for your skimmer to sit on.

If none of those are options, you can try to add a gate valve toe the skimmer output so that you can fine tune water height inside the skimmer.

I shouldn’t have to do that. According to what I am being told the chamber is adjustable. Just trying to find out how to do that.

I found them. Thank you. Hopefully it starts working now that I have the water level right I believe.

I stick mine in the 1st chamber with the socks where the water level never fluctuates so I can set it and forget it.

Does the sock chamber not fill up when you turn the pump off?

To the OP. Don't be surprised if the recommended water height is no good for the skimmer.

Thanks for responding. I have the water adjusted correctly and skimmer still hasn’t produced any skim mate at all. Very few fish or corals right now. Also have a reefmat running. Could this be the cause of no skim mate or even bubbles yet?

Possibly, low nutrients and bioload will affect skimmate production.

If your tank is on the new side, it might take a while for your tank to start building up enough waste for the skimmer to pull out.

Where do you have the bubble level in the skimmer neck? Does the bubbles look frothy or do the pop right at the surface? What's the salinity in the tank?

Does the 250 G2 have the ability to adjust the water height in the sump? I have a Tunze skimmer and need to make the water about an inch deeper.
