I just replaced the Sedra 3500 pump on my ASM-G1X in-sump skimmer after a pump failure. Since I had the skimmer out of the sump I went ahead and cleaned it with a strong vinegar solution and get it in ship shape. I rinsed the skimmer and the new pump thoroughly and put it back into service. I was immediately struck by the sheer volume of micro-bubbles in the chamber. Even though it was the same pump, I never remember the original producing so many bubbles. I lowered the level tube by ~3/4" to adjust for the new air volume in the column. However I quickly realized this was not enough, as the cup was filling rapidly with clear water. I have done the same thing twice more as I am still collecting clear water. Is this a normal thing, or did my vinegar bath cause the skimmer to have to be broken in again? Or is it something else?
