Hey everyone. Was wondering if I could get some help with my skimmer. I have a new tunze comline 9001 skimmer.

Just recently upgraded to a waterbox 25 peninsula. Transferred all my rock and livestock into the new tank. I re-aquascaped all the rock and used reef epoxy. My skimmer won’t stop overflowing. I thought it was due to the epoxy so for the last two days I’ve been letting it run and dumping it in hopes that it would skim out whatever was making it freak out. I’ve been replacing the saltwater that I’ve been dumping to compensate. I’ve moved it up and down to see if it would have any effect. I thought 4-6 hours of letting it run would work but it’s been two days now.

Could it be the epoxy I used? Possibly All the new saltwater I mixed and used for the tank? Or something else. Just seems weird that it’s been 2 days of this (not straight through). Thanks!

It very well could be! I have a very large skimmer and it goes crazy with epoxy also. I could fit 10 of yours inside of it lol.. keep it raised up the best you can and let it run.. I’d also run some carbon it will help settle it down if it is indeed the epoxy.

Yeah I have it raised high above the recommended water level. I had this happen with my bubble magnus qq1 when I used epoxy before but it was never this long to run it’s course. I have some new carbon running but maybe I’ll add more?

Do you just have the cup overflowing back into the tank? What I’ve found that works is.. mixing up some salt water for a water change and then let the skimmer overflow and drain into a bucket while replenishing the lost water with fresh in the tank. after the skimmer pulls out a gallon or 2 it settles down then works correctly. I’m not sure if that’s an option with the little guy you got or no? I know most but not all have a drain tube where you can do this.

Yeah I’ve just been babysitting it lol watching it get close to overflowing and dumping it out. I have a trash can of mixed saltwater next to it that I’ve been replenishing it. It’s a small skimmer, doesn’t really have a drain tube that I could use. I guess I’ll keep baby sitting it and hopefully it calms down.
