Hello All
I am starting to look for a new skimmer. I currently have a reef octopus in a 110 tank w/ 30 gallon sump.
What is a good quiet skimmer that works good, my current one is starting to get loud

So it needs a pump. My thinking is a pump is cheaper than a whole new skimmer if the octopus performed for you.

I just got the new Vertex Omega 150 and love it, super quiet and built like a tank

Any chance you want to do a review on it? Its a new skimmer and Ive been waiting for some reviews but there isnt too much on it yet. All I have been hearing is that alot of people are recieving it with a broken part from shipping. Not sure what part but Im pretty sure its the same piece on all of them.

Jarett not jacking your thread, this skimmer is def worth looking into it so trying to get more info for both of us. It can handle a 150 gal heavy stocked tank

Never even heard of RLSS until I read this thread and I've been looking for a week :/ All these Protein Skimmers, Vertex, Reef Octo, Bubble Magnus, RLSS etc.. seem to have the same design with variations on the pump. I'm lost.

I wish I got this advice when I got my first big in-sump skimmer..... 4 years later after buying and selling off 8+ different skimmers, I'm back to a hand me down ASM G2 that I'm throwing on a very quiet PSK1000 to take care of business...

What ever one you go with get one rated for a couple hundred gallons more than your total water volume is. If you can. IMHO
