When is the right time to add a skimmer to the tank?? Should it be before or after fish are added?

Well this is a controversial topic.
All life creates waste. Even algaes
Some people run with no skimmer while some swear upon its use.
Now in my opinion a skimmer should be introduced as soon as you can.

I would always run a new skimmer in a bucket with some vinegar to help shorten the break in period. Afterward, I would place it in the sump at a level about the recommended optimal operating depth, and let it run. At first there won't be any/much DOC's to remove, but it will be good in helping with the gas exchange, allowing the CO2 to reach equilibrium, and aerating the water.
