I have recently started feeding fuel to my corals. Am i supposed to turn off the protein skimmer while this feeding is going on? It looks like the protein skimmer is finding all of it

I turn off my main flow and just let the display power heads circulate my tank after feeding Fuel - just a few mins. Seems logical that a skimmer would pull it out to some extent.

We'll see what other s say. :-)

I prefer to shut down skimmer and return pump this way I can either dose a bit less (targeting only DT volume rather than complete system volume...) and at times just dose for the complete system volume while stopping return which makes for a higher conncentration for corals to pick up before I i turn on flow to the system. in my case I have a large sump and an additional 80 G water change system.... now how much that helps corals pick up more food from the water colums I cannot determine but I feel it raises the chance of corals catching the food. Yes I do turn off skimmer, carbon and PO4 reactors for 20-30 min as normally they would take off some of the food so I prefer at least to give time for the corals to feed.

I leave my skimmer on all the time. Anytime I feed, my skimmer bubble level drops way down anyways. It does nothing but aerate the water for about an hour until the foam rises again and it resumes skimming.
