I've got a question about my skimmer it's a reef octopus bh90 hob skimmer and I always turn it off when I feed my corals and I was just reading a couple of articles that said that you don't have to turn it off but wouldn't it just suck certain foods out like live brine shrimp and like frozen food and liquid food and I know that I can feed shrimp and stuff like that without turning the skimmer off but shouldn't it be turned off for liquid food and for like reef roids and stuff like that and live brine shrimp and frozen foods or am I wrong about this?? Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

I dose Red Sea "Reef Energy" liquids, just about every evening.
I shut the skimmer off for about 30min. otherwise the skimmer will suck the RE straight out of the water column.

Other than that coral food, I keep the skimmer running.

I use marine snow, and on the bottle it says to turn off your skimmer as well. I usually just have mine off for a half an hour and then turn it back on.

Yeah I turn my skimmer off but don't really know if I should because I direct feed everything and sometimes I feed marine snow and I turn the skimmer off and my mechanical filter off also because it says to but I really am starting to think about letting the skimmer on while I feed the corals because then it will suck out what the corals don t eat because I direct feed everything so what do you guy's think about this
