Skimmer?

What's a good skimmer for a heavy stocked 150gallon reef?

I run a reef octopus elite 220 on my 255 gallon setup and Its really efficient. It has a dc pump with it and a float switch for skim mate. Its a nice skimmer for a good price. YOu could run a 200 elite. Check them out.

I have plenty of room in sump, just the height I'm concerned with, I have only about 27in of height to work with

You will get a million different responses (dependent upon whatever skimmer everyone is currently using) but I like the NYOS skimmers.

agreed. Everyone has their own thing that works good for them. Best bet is to look at the skimmers suggested and read online reviews on them. I personally like the reef octopus skimmers. Breaks in quick, always pulls a good skim and has never given me any issues that I haven't accentally caused lol

Reef octopus, nyos, eshopps, plenty of good choices. For value check out the SCA 302. I'd read up on dimensions and the pros/cons to help with decisions.
