I have a 30gal aquarium and I am trying to find an in sump protein skimmer for it so I can try to control my parameters but I am not sure what size is good for it. I was going to buy one off of someone and it’s capacity is 80-135, is this too big for my tank? Thanks in advance!!

How big is your sump?

You dont need to run a skimmer 24/7

I recommend the IceCap k-1 or preferably the K2-50 which is made for a tank of this size and very effective

I kNow some go over size and are ok. But if it’s too big it won’t work efficiently as there is not enough waste to process. But I guess one could run it shorter periods to compensate. Honestly I have no experience with over sized skimmers but that’s my two cents lol. If it’s too tall, you may not be able to get the water lever right In your sized sump- I would also consider that when buying used.
Good luck!
