Good afternoon . I currently have a coralvue reef octopus in sump skimmer but it has seemed to stop working properly. We need to take it out and clean it every so often in order to start making bubbles again. Does anyone know what it could b?

The pump needs to be dismantled and soaked in vinegar to clean it up. Most importantly, the volute/venturi on the face of the pump needs to soak in vinegar and be cleaned as well. With mine, vinegar takes too long and I typically use something sharp and pointy to clear the calcifications that accumulate where the venturi pipe meets the larger opening, and then soak it in vinegar.

Thanks a million. I was thinking about replacing the pump already but it's not even 3 years old. I will see how long that works for and keep cleaning.
